Professor Jiade J. Lu is a China National Distinguished Expert, and the current Vice President of the newly founded Heyou International Hospital, a comprehensive academic medical center located in the Greater Bay Area of the Southern China, and the Director the Comprehensive Cancer Center and the Proton and Heavy Ion Center of the Heyou International Hospital.
Dr. Lu obtained his Medical Doctor (M.D.) from the Medical School of the State University of New York at Buffalo, USA, and his M.B.A. from both the University of California, Los Angeles and the National University of Singapore. He completed his residency training in radiation oncology at University of Miami Jackson Memorial Hospital. After his specialty training, Dr. Lu started his academic career at the Department of Radiation Oncology at the National University Hospital (NUH) of the National University Health System (NUHS), Singapore. In 2010, he was appointed the Head of the Departments of Radiation Oncology of NUH and Tan Tock Seng Hospital. In 2012, he was appointed the Vice Chairman of Medical Board of NUH for R&D.
In February 2014, he accepted the appointment by the Hospital Development Center of the Shanghai Municipal Government, and started his endeavor as the Executive President of the newly established Shanghai Proton and Heavy Ion Center. In March 2022, he moved to Guangdong province and started his new journey at the newly established Heyou International Hospital to establish its cancer center with proton and heavy ion facility.
Dr. Lu is very active in both clinical practice as well as academic activities. In addition to his busy clinical practice in radiation oncology, his painstaking efforts in both clinical and translational research has resulted in close to 100 original articles in international peer-reviewed journals. Furthermore, Dr. Lu has edited and published 12 oncology text or reference books, contributed to more than 30 book chapters. With the help from his colleague Professor Luther W. Brady, Dr. Lu founded the Journal of Radiation Oncology in 2012 (Lu, Teh & Welsh eds.). He is also the Editor-in Chief of the newly indexed (PubMed) Chinese Clinical Oncology as well as two renowned oncology book series of Springer Publishing including the “Medical Radiology | Radiation Oncology” and the “Practical Guide in Radiation Oncology” series.
Dr. Lu had served a number of international publishing and publicly listed corporations as advisor or independent board member of the board of directors.
